The Law Office of Klemkowski, Klemkowski & Dunn, P.A. has been very successful in defending clients accused of driving under the influence (DUI) and driving while impaired (DWI) by alcohol and/or drugs. If you have been charged with either a DUI or DWI, you should call us for a free consultation today! Do not wait - penalties for these serious charges can include jail time, hefty fines, suspension of your drivers' license and a rate increases or cancellation of your automobile insurance.
If you were arrested for DUI or DWI, it is likely that the police officer confiscated your license, and issued you a "temporary license". Note that on the back of that "temporary license" there is a Request for MVA Hearing. You MUST complete this form and submit it to the Office of Administrative Hearings, 11101 Gilroy Road, Hunt Valley, Maryland 21031, with a check or money order within 10 (ten) days, or your driving privileges will be suspended without a hearing. I recommend that you send such a request to the MVA via certified mail, return receipt requested.
When you make an appointment to see one of our attorneys, you should bring the following with you to your appointment:
- Certified copy of your complete driving record obtained from the MVA
- Certified PBJ (Probation Before Judgment) driving record obtained from the MVA
- Detailed personal history of your education, employment, accomplishments and community service
- Copies of all military records which indicate honorable discharge, awards, rank, medals, etc., if applicable
Prior to any scheduled Hearing or Trial, it is likely that you will also be asked to:
- Enroll in an alcohol education/treatment program
- Begin volunteer work/community service
- Obtain a letter from your employer (on company letterhead, signed by your boss) indicating your duties, length of employment, job abilities, no evidence of alcohol/drug abuse at work, and most importantly, your need for a license to perform your job.
